Privacy Policy
How Bible Race collects, uses, and protects your information.
Last updated: July 2026
1. Introduction
Bible Race ("we", "us", "the ministry") operates the Bible Race website and mobile application (together, the "Platform") to help believers worldwide read the entire Bible in one year. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from you, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By registering for an account or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, phone number, preferred language, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text). As you use the Platform, we also collect your daily reading progress, points and badges earned, cohort membership, forum posts, prayer requests, and testimonies you choose to submit.
When you make a freewill offering, our payment partners (Pesapal, DPO Pay, or TIPS Lipa Number) process your payment details directly — we store only a transaction reference number and amount, never your full card or mobile-money credentials.
We also automatically collect limited technical information such as IP address, device/browser type, and general location, used for security and fraud prevention.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and operate the daily reading plan, cohorts, forum, and prayer features; send OTP verification codes and account-related notices; send reading reminders and ministry updates by email, SMS, or WhatsApp (per your notification preferences); track points and leaderboard standings; moderate community content; and improve the Platform.
4. How We Protect Your Information
Passwords are stored as salted hashes and are never visible to our staff. One-time passcodes (OTPs) expire after a configurable window. Administrator access to member personal information is logged for audit purposes. We use industry-standard safeguards to protect our systems, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
5. Sharing of Information
Your phone number and email address are personally identifiable information and are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We share information only with: payment processors (Pesapal, DPO Pay, TIPS Lipa Number) to complete a freewill offering you initiate; SMS/WhatsApp/email delivery providers strictly to send messages you are entitled to receive; and authorities, where required by law.
6. Data Retention
Your reading progress, points, contribution history, and financial transaction records are never deleted, even if you leave and later re-register — they remain permanently linked to your identity. Financial transactions are never deleted, only ever marked as refunded or cancelled. Annual reports are archived permanently.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account at any time by contacting us. Because reading and giving history is retained per our Data Retention practice above, account "deletion" is carried out as a soft-delete (your account is deactivated and your personal identifiers are restricted) rather than permanent erasure of ministry records.
8. Children's Privacy
Bible Race is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from young children without appropriate parental involvement. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information inappropriately, please contact us so we can address it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Platform. Continued use of Bible Race after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, please contact us at support@biblerace.org.
